Monster Research

Which converter should I bring?

The full elemental damage matrix, straight from the game's own screen: every attacking element against every defending element. It also explains why the planner sometimes recommends a converter that is not the strongest one on a mixed map — the goal in AFK farming is to keep one-shotting everything, not to hit one monster very hard.

What is Monster Research (MR)?

Monster Research is Ragnarok Origin: Classic's long-term account progression. Every monster has a research level from 0 to 10 that rises as you defeat it, and each level grants permanent bonuses — it keeps paying out no matter which character you play.

The part that decides your farming route is the line bonus: monsters are grouped into lines of 5 by element, and a line pays out based on its lowest member. One neglected monster caps the whole line, so raising that bottleneck is usually worth far more than spreading kills around.

How do I use the MR planner?

Open the Bestiary in-game, pick an element tab in the planner, and fill in your monsters. One element is already enough for a real recommendation — you do not need all 217.

One catch worth knowing before you start: the game shows the level you are working towards, not the one you have, so "MR 5" means 4 completed. Rather than doing that subtraction yourself — which is ambiguous at 10 — type the kill count instead and the planner works out the level for you.

It can also time your farming sessions and build a history, which is how you find out whether a map is actually paying what the theory says.

Why does the planner recommend two different maps?

Because the best map depends on how long you are going to play. A monster's research per kill is higher at low levels, and it climbs sharply as the monster closes in on its next level — the gain is divided by the kills still missing.

The short session pick (1–2h solo) rides the monsters closest to levelling, which you cash in without grinding past them in a short run. The long session pick (4h+, ideally in a party) uses the sustained average instead, because over a long grind you will push past those cheap early levels — chasing the burst would send you to a map that stops paying an hour in.

How do I raise Mini research? They barely spawn.

You do not — not on a map. Minis spawn too rarely for any farming route to take one to level 10, which is why the planner's Avoid mini filter exists at all.

They go up at branch parties: forty players gathering in Western Morroc and burning saved , which summon Minis on demand. It is by far the best MR per hour in the game. Note that Aesir and Epoch Branches do not count — they summon Invaders, which the game treats as a different thing from MVPs.

How does MVP research work?

Differently from everything else, and mostly unexplained in-game. A single hit is enough for the kill to count — but only if you are still on the map when the MVP dies. Leave, or respawn elsewhere after dying, and the hour is wasted.

It is worth doing after your 5 daily MVPs, when there are no rewards left and only the research counter remains. At that point you are not trying to win the fight, just to be present when it ends.

How do cards work, and where does each one come from?

A card pays in two ways — the effect while equipped, and the collection bonus while stored in the album — but not both at once with the same copy: a card in the album is not equipped. Rarity (green, blue, purple, red, plus the Illusion off to one side) decides what it costs to evolve and which fragment it breaks into, not what the card does.

Three ways to get one, and the card page prices all three side by side: kill it, open an album, or buy it in one of the in-game shops that sell cards.

Why does my weapon hit some monsters for less?

Because every weapon type carries a fixed modifier against Small, Medium and Large targets. A katar is at 75% against Small and Large; a bow at 75% against Large, and a book at 50%. It is the quiet reason a farming map stops being a one-shot run.

The table is the game's own, in one screen — plus what puts a cell back at 100%.

What is Guild League and how does my guild get in?

Forty versus forty on two battlefields at once, Tuesday and Thursday. The Main-Field takes 40 elites the Guild Master appoints by hand; the Sub-Battlefield is open to everyone and feeds the main one with buffs and commander skills.

There is no registration: a guild with 40 members in the party is signed up automatically, and that same threshold is what qualifies it for the Tyr Cup. The penalty worth knowing before it knows you: fielding fewer than 10 participants in a match marks the guild inactive and costs it heavily at weekly settlement.

How do I stop missing events that start at a set time?

Some things start at a set time, and it is easy to lose one while the game has your attention. The site can play a sound and show a notification a few minutes ahead — you pick which events and how early for each.

The honest limit: it only works while the site is open in a tab. There is no server here, so nothing reaches you with the browser closed. There is a test button precisely because whether it gets through depends on your own Windows settings.

Is Dimension Drill worth it if I do not care about ranked?

Yes, and the reason has nothing to do with rank. It is the most reliable source of the Light-Dark feather, the hardest and most expensive feather in the game — which turns the win ladder from completionism into something close to mandatory.

The mode is 5v5, Monday and Wednesday, with four game modes rotating. Two ladders of quests run at once, and clearing the weekly every week covers the season's participation quests by itself; the win quests are the part that asks you to actually be good at it.
