Abyssal Raid is live, and it hands out MINI cards
MVP and MINI cards have no guaranteed drop: however much you kill, there is no point at which the card is finally yours. It is luck, and only luck. The upshot is that most players do not own a single MINI card — and inside a week they get three, two from the Raid quests and one from the Radiance Trial bar on Monday.
What it changes
- It had already been announced in the 27/08 patch note — it went live today, 04/09 at 5:00 (UTC-4), and closes on 10/09 at 4:59.
- The part that matters: MVP and MINI cards have no guaranteed drop. On the other classes, killing enough eventually hands the card over. On these two there is no such point — however much you kill, it stays luck. That is the whole reason a MINI card is a rare sight today.
- This event pays them by quest, not by drop. The 3 and 15 kill quests each hand over a [], and the 6 kill one hands over an [] — any Illusion MVP Card, your pick.
- Three MVPs spawn on Funfair Isle — Owl Duke, Dark Illusion and Knight of Abyss — and they share a single count of three rewarded kills a day, refreshing at 5:00. There is no better monster: all three pay the same list.
- The chances do not bank. A day you skip does not come back, and no last-day rush recovers it, because the ceiling is daily. Six reward windows, 18 rewarded kills for the whole event.
- And it is worth going on after the quests are done: while you still have chances that day, a kill can still drop the rare reward — a [] or [ ×100].
- The full table of what each kill pays is on the Abyssal Raid page.
This is not "MINI cards have arrived in the game" — they were already here, and the 27/08 patch even pulled the seventeen of them out of the Black Market and Trade-Auction, leaving only the Chamber of Commerce. What changes is how you get one: until now it was luck, or buying from somebody whose luck came. Do all three quests. This is the kind of event worth clearing even if you skip most of them.
Infestation is the honest word for it. Until this week most players did not own a single MINI card. This week they get three: the 3 and 15 kill quests hand over two, guaranteed, with no luck in the middle, and the third lands on Monday, at the 35,000 milestone on the Radiance Trial bar — that event’s final week, and where a sizeable guild gets to. This is not a new card entering the game — it is a whole class going from "almost nobody has one" to "everybody has one", all at once.
And the MINI album genuinely moves the needle. The two that change the most are
Ghostring, worth 30% neutral damage reduction on armor, and
Cat o' Nine-Tail, which puts magic damage reflection on your boots — that one is very welcome in the current mage meta. The Illusion card from the 6-kill quest is welcome too, but it is not what changes anything: by now every player already has two.
